We are almost two months into the New Year, and if any of you are like me you have either started to cheat or thought about cutting corners here and there, on your New Years goals/resolutions.
My suggestion is DON'T!
It is really not worth it. That bite of chocolate, pasta, cheese; skipping the gym that one time; not completing that task you set out; none of these cheats are worth it. And I can say this with 100% truth and knowledge, because I have to admit. I cheated...shh
I could not resist the chocolate desert when I was out to dinner with friends and I ended up not only eating it but eating way too much!
The next day I felt terrible. Mentally, I was annoyed with myself for breaking down. And physically I felt sick. My body is not used to sugar right now and it was a shock to my system. I had a headache, felt extra tired and was plain miserable.
I have decided that for me the best approach is to remind myself every morning what my end goal is and why I am doing all these little things to reach it. You should do the same. Write down your goal and set the small step into action. Look at your goal every morning so you know what it is you are working towards. The motivation you have will help you get started, turn it into habit and it will keep you going with out even having to think.
I am by far my hardest critic, possibly one of the hardest critics around. I try to remind myself that I feel great when I am making progress. Try not to beat yourself up. Just get back on track as soon as possible. If it's really something you want, the Pros will most certainly outweigh the Cons.
Stay Positive! Stay Strong!
