St Martin

For my Birthday this year I took a last minute trip and weekend getaway with one of my girlfriends. Don't get me wrong I love putting together a party to celebrate almost any event/holiday/etc. This year however was not a milestone of B-day and what I needed most was to relax and decompress.

Since we literally booked the trip a week before taking off, our options were somewhat limited. We decided on St. Martin due to the reasonable priced and direct flight. I would suggest when booking trips give yourself a bit more time to plan; as we soon realized this is hurricane season in the area, and the majority of the island and the more premier hotels close for a few months.

While at first this seemed like a downfall in our plan for relaxation, it turned out to be the best thing for us. As people and traffic in the city constantly surround us, we really had the place to ourselves and were able to enjoy some great wine and ton of laughs.

If you happen to go to St. Martin I would suggest staying in the French side at Belmond la Samanna you could have a nice relaxing weekend away with great food and scenery. If you feel like venturing out St. Barths and Anguilla are both just a quick boat ride away. Or you can chill out like we did and have breakfast on the balcony and Chill.

Happy B-day me. This month is not over yet so I am planning to sneak in a few little birthday dinners this weekend.
